Who are we?

Pathma group of companies are the market leader of tea production of the southern province Sri Lanka, since 1985. The first step of this group of companies is the commencement of its operations in 1985, by establishing “Kuruduwatta Tea factory”. This first step has expanded into four factories in Galle, Kuruduwatta tea factory, Magedara Tea factory, Willehena Tea factory and Golden Leaf Tea factory.

OP

Orange Pekoe (OP) is the main grade and comes as whole leaf and wiry and is a delicious brew with a delicate fragrance. This is a high grown tea and given the high elevation at which it is picked, the tea is bright in colour and greater in flavor and freshness. The tea has a unique taste and quality and is mostly exported to Russia and Middle Eastern countries.

Pekoe

The tea appears shorter and curly and not as wiry as OP. The liquor generally has more colour and a distinctive flavor. Our PEKOE graded tea leaves are categorized as high grown tea which is renowned for refine taste and is most sought after world over. Given the high elevation at which it is picked, the tea is bright in colour and greater in flavor and freshness.

FBOPF1

Flowery Broken Orange Pekoe Fannings 1 (FBOPF1) most commonly known as FF1 is semi leafy tea, larger than BOP leaves. It contains low to medium amount of tips and bears a rather sweet flavour. Given the high elevation at which it is picked, the tea is bright in colour and greater in flavour and freshness.

FBOPFsp

Flowery Broken Orange Pekoe Fannings Special (FBOPFsp or FFsp) is one of the finest of fannings and contains a higher proportion of tips. It appears very leafy with a show of gold or silver tips amidst the tiny black leaves. Falling into the category of high/ medium grown tea and grown at an elevation of 2000ft to 6000ft, FBOPFsp, has the same refined taste and bright colour inherent to high grown teas.
